Authentic Happiness

Authentic Happiness comes according to Dr. Martin Seligman (Ph.D.) from identifying and cultivating your most fundamental strengths and using them in the best way in your daily life. To reach lasting fulfillment you require to find the meaning of your life and its purpose. But first it is important to identify and amplify your strengths and virtues and find your niche where you can live your positive traits to the fullest. 

Aristotle talked about the "good life". "Good life" is something beyond "pleasant life", the "meaningful life" is something beyond "good life". The "pleasant life" might be having your material dreams come true, such as buying your dream car, going on luxury holidays. The "good life" is using your signature strengths everyday to produce and achieve authentic happiness and abundant gratification. Seligman, describes the "meaningful life" as something larger than yourself where you put your signature strengths and virtues in the service of something much larger than you are. What that is, is unique to every living being. 

Seligman writes " Authentic happiness derives from raising the bar for yourself, not rating yourself against others" 


Nature and adventures where I'm outside of my own comfort zone brings me flow in life.
Doing and daring something new. This is when I started rock climbing in the french Alpes at age 18.  



We don't know our strengths inside us until we are truly challenged 



Happiness is unique
